Hi Family

I became active in the group only today and am happy to have discovered CASA. I wonder why I didn't learn about it earlier? Anyway back to my question. I thought it would be interesting to find out what you guys use to compose music software-wise since the music creation is to a large extent enabled by technology. My favorite software is Reason and it's cousin Recycle as well as Cool Edit. I've recently come across Reaper which is a freeware program and I must say, I'm pretty impressed. My logic is that one should use software programs that they find easy, it must be so easy to use them that it becomes like second nature and I believe that will not stifle creativity. Of course I'm familiar with what others might call "top industry" software programs let of course by ProTools, Logic, Cubase, etc etc but I subscribe to the philosophy that sees software only as a tool.

What do you guys think?

Hi Mr Khanda Cool

I use Fruityloops 9. I also used Magix at some time. I'm now learning to use Reason but I fnd it sophisticated and heavy technical.

Mainly, a combination of Logic and Reason, plus a whole lot of other software for miscellaneous things.

Hey hey, Reaper is AWESOME. If you're prepared to wade through its unusual usage methods it can do some very serious work.

Personally, I love Logic Studio, but thats because I am a pianist and its great to be able to track good pianos out of the box as well as have a pretty serious edit suite.

I've tried the others, and Logic is the only one that has stuck.
