Hi all,

I wonder if anybody can help me. I've been asked to quote to work on a 1/2 hour, weekly TV series and I was just wonder what the average rate is for a half our episode. It's a children's program if that makes any difference.

Any help you can share will be greatly appreciated.

kind regards,

Hi Gavin,

Unfortunately there are no fixed rates for composing music for a TV series.
It will depend on how much music they need per half hour episode, whether the music will be generic or choreographed to picture and how complex the music needs to be. The fact that it's a kids programme makes no difference at all.

You might want to charge a separate fee for the opening and closing themes, which will be the same for every episode, then charge a fee per minute of music for use in the episodes.

Maybe other CASA members will chip in here and suggest some actual numbers...
